Representatives for C.L.A.S.S Teacake Tuesday attended the all party parliamentary group session which looked at one in a series of emerging developments and topics in the fashion sector and to discuss and raise awareness in parliament if subsequent policy change might be needed. The Nov 23rd session looked at a number of topics such as 'enforced legislation', fostering sustainability in fashion through design, to sourcing, responsibility and due diligence as well as labour and human rights issues. Made -By did a fantastic job as secretariat for the session and for all the organisation and planning involved.
Many leading UK brands were present including Gap, Marks & Spencer, Ted Baker, Aurora Fashion, Asos, as well as leading groups in the sector including the CSF (co-secretariats), Ethical Trading Initiative, EJF and many more. Baroness Lola Young chaired the session and other key speakers included: John Morrison, Executive Director of the Institute of Human Rights and Business, Victor Kjaer, Deputy General Director of the Danish Commerce and Companies Agency, Ministry of Business and Growth, Sean Ansett, Managing Partner At Stake Advisors and former CR director of Gap, and Rowland Hill, CSR and sustainability manager Marks and Spencer.
